PFSense 2.3 Squid Cache TCP_MISS
-
The Cache/Proxy forum is here.
Your cache is working. The page you're looking at is the dynamic squid realtime view which is something you wouldn't want to be cached in the first place.
-
Thank you! It means I don't have any problem on my cache server? Why there are no logs on my cache? By the way thank you again.
-
The GUI doesn't properly show the contents of cache.log, but that log only has some squid internal stuff in it. The realtime view is showing access.log which is where all the web access is logged.

What do you mean by I wound't want? You mean Its blacklisted? Do I need to input websites to be able to cache it? Does squidguard affecting caching? Thanks
-
Same as access.log, sorry for this, i'm still new in pfsense caching. I don't know what to do.
Thanks for the help.

It contains details that you wouldn't care about.
You mean Its blacklisted?
What?
Do I need to input websites to be able to cache it?
Caching the dynamic web is not easy to do anymore. It's not a magic checkbox you just tick for it to work. To effectively cache you must analyze the site and then create refresh_patterns to handle the site. I stopped running a disk cache since my results weren't that great. On a corporate LAN< I was only getting a hit rate of 4-7%. Now I just use it as a platform for squidguard URL filtering. No caching at all.

Oh. So sad to hear this :(. I think Ill find another cache application, can you recommend me caching apps?
Thanks again. :D -
Last favor please. Can you analyze my cache info. I don't know if caching is working great or not so that I will terminate it and replace a new server. Thanks in advance.

Good luck with that. I know of no other.

It's working as expected. It's hitting the cache 25% of the time but only on small objects (25% hit rate that turns into only 4% of bytes).
-
Where can I see that details, I want to monitor it but I dont know how to read the cache info.
Thanks.
