      Hello

i recently built new 1U pfsense device using some server grade hardware.

how can i reduce swap size to 2GB only because i don't see keeping 20GB of swap will be used anywhere. i want to allocate more SSD space to squid caching for youtube webpages.

Can i use pfsense CPU temp for intel X3430

      please check screenshot for reference

If you do a Custom install instead of Quick/Easy you'll get the opportunity to set partition sizes (including swap) as you prefer.

I'm not sure that FreeBSD supports shrinking a partition.  You can do a config.xml backup, reinstall pfSense with whatever you want, then restore your config.xml.  Or you can try playing with gpart and creating a new swap and then deleting the old one perhaps.

As KOM mentioned, it may be possible with some partition jiggery after the install.
Realistically I would consider far easier to just take a backup of the current config.xml and reinstall from scratch.

IMHO that's much simpler than messing with partitions after the install.
Building the partitions the way you want from the start will be cleaner and  less error prone, especially if you're try to get usable space back from the process.

              Just my $.02

It will download your packages again unless you selected the Skip packages checkbox when doing your backup.

Thanks KOM, will config backup and fresh custom install pfSense so that this time can manage SWAP size only 4GB for 16GB ECC RAM…
