-
dear all,
i am running pfsense 2.3.2-p1 and i am finding way to remotely bachup config.xml on my lan PC automatically, i read many threads but didn't understand how to do. please guide step by step.
pfsense Box: 172.16.1.1
Backup PC: 172.16.2.4I am a average geek so please forgive the questions if they seem like they should be understood.

Google: scp public key crontab
Don't have full-blown tutorial for you
-
ok you are right dear
https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Remote_Config_Backup
it only three step but don't know where to put these commands.
just guide little
-
Create an ssh key pair on your host computer
Add the public key to /root/.ssh/authorized_keys on pfSense
scp root@pfsense_ip_address_or_hostname:/conf/config.xml /local/path/config.xml
Regarding rotating different backups based on timestamps, etc, get to scripting. Probably easier just to #buygold

dear Mr. derelict,
i didn't find any directory .SSH under root directory
-
mkdir .ssh
-
or just do it in the webgui under "System / Users" and add the public key content to the admin user.

Or do that. Duh.
