Just installed pfSense on to CF on a Alix2d3. We are trying to get the second LAN interface to work either with the other LAN interface so it works as a router/switch or as two independent LANs working off the WAN for internet access. We have access on the LAN interface but nothing on the OPT1 (we named mgmt). I have read some of the threads hear and tried them but no of them work. Not saying they are incorrect just must be something I am not understanding.

All traffic is blocked on OPT1 when you first assign and enable it. You need to add firewall rule/s to allow traffic.
Post what you have so far - IP-subnets of LAN, OPT1 and WAN, rules on the interfaces… - if you need more help.
