      Hi all,

every couple of weeks I find the internet is not working and the cause is that my SG-2440 is powered off, I looked into the logs by nothing stands out, where can I start investigating the cause of this?

My 8860 at home did that when my UPS had a dead battery and started sending surges. Thought it was a problem with the board or power supply, but then noticed one of my PC systems had halted during POST with an error that it was refusing to boot because of power surges. My iMac powered itself off as well.

First verify power is sane. If that seems reasonable, get in touch with us via support and we'll help troubleshoot from there.

I'd never seen a UPS flake out like that with a dead battery. I let it run with a dead battery for probably a couple months, never a convenient time to power off everything to swap the batteries.

Mine's an old APC SmartUPS 700. Old, but an otherwise solid unit that's been flawless for ~15 years and has been fine ever since replacing the batteries. For the first ~6 weeks of having a dead battery everything was fine, then it started surging about once a day, powering off everything.

Some UPS's can be configured to do periodic self tests.  These self tests can power down the UPS if the battery is bad.

well I replaced the batteries so we will see now if the problem reappears or not. I suppose I can be sure after few weeks.

I own an SG-2440 plugged into a UPS as well.  Curious if the new battery fixed your powering down.

Did you end up having further power-down events?  We have two SG-2440s in an HA setup, the standby unit has powered off twice in a two week period (figures it'd be a few months out of warranty  :-\ ).  These are in a datacenter with conditioned power, though, so no flaky UPS batteries to check.  My hope is that it will end up being the AC adapter or something, just popped onto the forums before I head downstairs to power the unit back up.

after I did an update and the device seemed bricked I shelved it and now use a different solution, I lost faith in netgate devices

I just came across a post that may be related:

waiting for further information as this blog post is really sparse!
