In the later versions (2.1.x and beyond) of aPinger, when I have it set to email me about WAN/GATEWAY failures, the email alerts come in continuously.

It doesn't seem that the alert trigger only sends on email, instead it send one email every time the trigger is sent, not ONE when the problem appears and the one when it goes away.

Anyone else getting 100's of emails on a wan failure?

So, I still have no resolution to this email spam issue from aPinger…

Today to got so bad that our ISP blocked my ability to send any more mail because it sent too many emails in a day!

I went ahead and got a Mandrill account for notifications from equipment to avoid this moving forward, however this is crazy.

Why does aPinger send a new email if the gateway is STILL down from the last time?!

Why wont it just send ONE email when it goes down and ONE email on its return?

I guess after all these years this is still the same behaviour … because I get flooded with e-mails when my WAN connections go down?

            NOPE

            No solution to this yet.

In fact i feel that while PFsense has matured from a codebase standpoint, it has seriously regressed from a reporting and user management standpoint.

I have felt that the PFsense team has never really focused on the user facing reporting, monitoring and telemetry aspects of this platform.

Even in the latest release this has continued in that they have even gone so far as to remove the ability to email RRD graphs to administrators.

I am forced to look elsewhere for a firewall solution so that I can properly do my job as manager of getway services for my clients.
