Realistic expectations from J1900 with 8GB Ram 64 GB SSD
-
Hi.
I'm just about to click order on a Qotom J1900 box with 8GB Ram and 64GSD but thought I'd check the specs first…
I have around 10 users and approx 40 devices ranging from TVs, Chromecast, Xbox, PS3, PCs, MACs, Linux Boxs, IP Phones and PBX's.
The internet connection is 80/20 fibre. Some of the devices will be accessing via Wireless. Will the Qotom be able to handle pfSense, pfBlockerNG, Snort and a one/two occasional VPN users ?
Or am I expecting to much from it ?If it will, moving forward when the connection is increased any idea what I should be able to support ? 150/50 ?
Any other suggestions for hardware. Ideally 3 or 4 LAN ports.
Thanks

search the forum, there's tons of reports and tests with this system. looks like it will do full gigabit without much issue, 150mbps should be nothing

Thanks for the reply.
I did have a look and from a speed perspective it does look like it should be fine.I need to check on the number of users and packages.. I want to make sure it will do that !
Thanks

I have a J1900 and I am not able to get it to route over the WAN at full gigabit speeds. I am only able to get a max of about 800mbps across the WAN. If I switch out the J1900 box with my i3 box, I get my full WAN speeds of 930+ mbps.
However, the J1900 will route packets at full gigabit speeds across LAN's….but it will not across a WAN. I still have not figure out why.

What packages do you have installed and how many users/devices ?
