      Hello,
      I will like to know if is possible to run a Proxy server on my hardware ( ALIX board 512 Ram ).

        Certainly a BAD idea. (Also, very much doubt you have 512MiB RAM there, it's just the half.)

              Ofcourse it is possible, but you are constraint by Alix hardware (Memory and IO). Squid is a resource hog. Especially when you are running it on a compact flash. You can get one of those microdrive for the Alix, but the RPM is not up to standard.

              Running it with cache disabled defeats the purpose.

              If you decide to run the squid service, be warn PFSense might run like a snail.

                It does work on ALIX, not for caching but for access control only (with squidGuard).

                Memory is the biggest drawback on those
