      Hello,

Zabbix-3.0-LTS  went beta on January 19. [1] and plan on final release on february 16.

I have tried to find out if work have been done to ensure that the zabbix-LTS package will be upgraded to 3.0  in pfsense-2.3, but without luck.

Currently pfSense 2.2 is using Zabbix agent and proxy verion 2.2.11.

The way the new pkg system works we can't have multiple versions since they install things into conflicting locations. Unless something has changed in the ports architecture since the last time we looked, we'll have to keep the version at whatever best serves the majority of those on pfSense using the Zabbix packages.

Understand the complexities, but wanted to +1 as someone currently using zabbix 2.x proxy package in pfSense and wanting but unable to upgrade to zabbix 3.x which has been released due to pfSense.

The agent package is backward compatible, unfortunately the proxy is not (needs proxy major version match with zabbix-server major version).

I guess we will need to explore running zabbix-proxy on something other than pfSense/behind, if the ports architecture can't support.

            I bump this thread
since now Zabbix 3.0 is out, stable, and LTS :)

            Here are the compatibility details:
            https://www.zabbix.com/documentation/3.0/manual/appendix/compatibility

the server 3.0 is still compatible with agent 1.X and 2.X. but proxies are not.

I'd like to bump and echo Carl's thoughts.

I'm very interested in moving to Zabbix 3, but I rely on pfSense Zabbix proxies. I'm willing to help test if a coder is working on Zabbix 3 packages, but I'm afraid that's the only assistance I can offer.

I want to thanks and say - latest pfSense and Package for Zabbix Agent works well with actuall Zabbix Server 3.0.4.

I used this HowTo: http://taste-of-it.de/pfsense-monitoring-mit-zabbix/. Is there more than only use the FreeBSD Template in Zabbix to monitor pfSense?

                    Hi,

use the "Template OS OpenBSD" ans you will see results.

                      Hi,
if i do so, i have no network adapter to monitor. So i switched back to free bsd.

Sorry but that is not correct. I am using zabbix3 on a raspberry3 and the template shows results.
