Multi Wan and Failover is flakey or doesn't work..
-
Hi guys! I did this before with my old internet but that was the time when only standalone modems was used, today ISPs provide us with a "Modem & Router" in one product, I asked them If I could get the modem only but they said they don't do that anymore and provide customers with "Modem & Router".
Today when I do this my internet when browsing using google chrome says there is no Internet connection.
I tried browsing without configuring pfSense = no luck
I tried browsing configuring Load balancing and Failover = no luck
Whatever I do it does not work.. the odd thing is My WAN1, WAN2, and LAN, can ping google.com or 8.8.8.8 . Something tells me that my Internet connection is not the problem ( I recently called my ISP to fix my internet and they told me two of Internet plans has no problem ). Anyone know what could I do to fix this? I saw some post saying Allow LAN net to Any. But also that doesn't work. I tried browsing before posting but no luck..
If I can only make my Modem Router 2 into a different Subnet lets say /25 then maybe I have luck fixing this?
That would make it into
WAN 1 = /24
WAN 2 = /25
LAN = /22
Also another thing I noticed is even though I disable WAN1 or WAN2, and make only one of those WAN Active sometimes I have no internet connection. Please help me… Thank you!

Are your pfSense WAN ports DHCP or PPPoE?

Oh I forgot to say that, it is both wan 1 and wan 2 are DHCP. Thanks ! :)

I bet you can put the modems into bridge mode though.. But non the less.. Change WAN 2 modem to another subnet other than 192.168.1.0/ Say 172.16.10.0/
:o

Not quite sure how you're going to have two DHCP WANs on the same subnet.

Hello chpalmer! Thanks for the suggestion but I tried that before and called the ISP that issued me the modem router, he says that's not possible because thats what its built on :(

Hello Derelict! Is there any way to make pfSense link WAN1 and a Virtual Lan (virtual lan has another subnet) and get the internet from there?
Thank you! :)

No idea what you're asking. Sorry.

Could I make this so that the subnet can be changed when it reaches my pfSense box?
ModemRouter(192.168.1.1/24) >> [WAN1]> pfSense (10.0.0.1/22)
ModemRouter(192.168.1.1/24>Another Router(192.168.1.1/25)>> [WAN2]>I can add another router infront of WAN2 so that the subnet can be changed when it reaches pfSense box?

More like that - sure.

Thank you! I will try that and return with the results :)
