The nc364t nic has a PCI x16 interface:

        http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00885057

that is compatible with x4 and x8 slots.

THe Asrock has both a x1 and a x16 slot - make sure it's in the x16 slot.

Also - make sure the motherboard is flashed with the latest firmware - I've had issues with cards (not just nics) not getting recognized that was solved by flashing firmware.

I use these nics a lot, and have very good luck with them.

It's not working I updated the asrock motherboard to a beta bios that was very hard to find It's bios 1.21.
I have a 512mb ram installed in the motherboard and a celeron 430 cpu would that cause any issues.
The card is also working i tried it in my personal desktop which has a 1155 asrock z77 extreme 4 and it worked wonderfully.

            The CPU/RAM shouldn't matter.

The only other thing I can think of would be checking the Bios settings and try changing some of them.

Which version of pfSense do you use ?
                  32Bit or 64Bit ?
Embedded install or Full install ?

full install and its pfsense version 2.3.2  32bit.
I tried using the pfsense 2.4.0 64bit beta and it still didn't detect the card. I don't think its detecting it at the bios level.

Do you have a PCI-E Video card to test the PCI-E x16 slot ?
Did you use the serial of vga version of pfSense ?
There is a possibility that the PCI-E x16 slot only support VGA cards, there are motherboards where
the PCI-E x16 slot only work with VGA-cards and not with network cards.

I went out and got a Lenovo thinkcentre m57 and the Nic worked in it. It also has a onboard Intel gigabit Nic also. So I am happy at the moment. I just need a 1gb ram and a USB keyboard to get the system up and running. I will let you guys know when The system is up and running.
Thanks everyone for the replies and the help.
