      Hello everyone,
I just bought an ALIX 2c1 and I am trying to have pfSense up and running.
The problem is when I start the board I get a
      No boot device available
      message.
If the CF (128Mb) is not plugged in the message is (of course)
      01f0 - No drive found !

      some further details:
the CF has been written with latest snapshot (actually I tried with many different images) with an universal USB reader
I have managed to update the BIOS to v.0.99 with a Etherboot procedure (freedos and pxelinux)

The strange thing is that when the CF is plugged in I do not receive the "01f0 - <geometry>.." message either.

      Any hint ?

      Thanks in Advance
      V.</geometry>

        OK - a couple of things…

        1. Make sure you used the embedded image.

        2. When you first turn on the board - press the 's' key to enter into the bios settings and set the baud rate to 9600.

        3. Set the disk mode to LBA.

When you save the settings the board should reboot and bring up the pfSense system - at least mine does.

I tried almost everything  (including what you said) but with no luck.
Yesterday I tried a new Sandisk 512MB CF and now it works like a charm.
I would like it to run on a 128Mb CF anyway to avoid wasting space (also because I
use the 512Mb CF with my canon camera ;) )

Hmmm - sounds like the 128-meg CF does not emulate IDE - some don't.

Try a new one (Sandisk is good).
