I am planning on installing pfSense for the first time this week and wanted to ask a few newbie questions.

I have an old SSD that was previously used for Linux and it has a few partitions on it. My hope is to wipe out all partitions on it and simply install pfSense on it. Will the installer be able to handle wiping out all the old partitions and creating a new one? Or should I do it prior to installing pfSense?

Also, can I do the installation of pfSense off the network? Do the installation and then plug it into the network afterwards?
      Thanks! :)

The installer should handle that. In very rare cases it might pick up partition information existing on the drive from partitions beyond what it adds. I've never actually seen that myself though.

You can install without network access yes. You would probably want and least one client to access the setup wizard on the webgui but you do that later. The console gives you enough options to setup and shutdown ready to move.

Great thanks. Looking forward to finally giving the install a try this weekend!
