I have a weird situation which I am hoping someone can help me with.

I have three brand new SG-2220 units.
I booted one, went thru the wizard and specified the following:

      1. Host name
      2. Change the domain name to: {customerdomain}.local
      3. Set the DNS servers to: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
      4. Leave the Time server hostname as: 0.pfsense.pool.ntp.org
      5. Change Time zone to: Etc/GMT-5
      6. Configure WAN Interface to use DHCP
      7. Block RFC1918 Private Networks Check
      8. Block bogon networks Check
        Configure LAN Interface
      9. LAN IP Address 10.20.0.1
      10. Subnet Mast: 24
      11. Admin password: pfsense

Reboot and everything seems to work. I then go to DHCP and change the scope to 10.20.0.50 to 10.20.0.200.
Then I try to get a DHCP address and it gives out a 192.168.1.x address. I then set a static address, 10.20.0.2, on my computer and try to ping the pfSense but no joy. Using a console cable it says that the IP address is 10.20.0.1. But still not able ping or use the webui. I even tried 172.16.20.x addressing. No joy.

So I tried another unit to see if that was the issue. Same problem. So far I have tried it on all three and they all have the same issue.

Next I tried just leaving all the defaults. Then go in and change the scope to 192.168.1.50 to 200. Still works.

Help? Any ideas? I have a bunch of 2440’s configured similarly and they all work fine.

      Any thoughts would be appreciated!
      Paul.

Leaving your PEBKAC to someone else, just as a side note:

        @parisi:

        1. Change Time zone to: Etc/GMT-5

Are you on some ship in the middle of nowhere, or? This TZ is NOT what you want.

If you just got the SG2220's you can always open a support ticket via the Netgate support portal: https://customercare.netgate.com/
If you want, post a copy of your config.xml so we can dig into it; from your description it doesn't sound like you did anything blatantly wrong.

While this has zero to do with you accessing it..  I have to ask why?

"3.  Set the DNS servers to:  8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4"

But you make no mention of changing the resolver to forwarder mode or changing to the forwarder vs the default resolver.  So your basically telling pfsense to use google dns, so it won't be able to resolve anything local or even its own records??

If you run through the setup wizard keeping the default subnet and then change the LAN subnet afterwards do you hit the same issue?
