IPSec & Android devices
-
Is there documentation anywhere on setting up IPSec with Android devices? In trying to set up a VPN, I seem to be finding conflicts between what's required on the pfSense end, compared to the Android end.
tnx jk

Hi jk
First of all we need to know what IPsec specific protocoll you want to connect (IKEv2, L2TP?).
Try the strongSwan App for Android (can be downloaded on Play Store or directoly as .apk from devsite).
Since it's the "official" Client (strongSwan is also used by pfSense), it can be used with almost every cipher/hash.
Also note that Android doesn't Support IKEv2 natively, only L2TP/IPsec and IKEv1 (which is obsolete).best regards driederer

I see IKEv2 came out in 2005, which is before when Android first appeared. I'm surprised that they'd go with something that's already obsolete.
However, I was wondering if anyone had configuration examples to get it going, as I don't seem to be able to. I have set up IPSec 'VPNs previously, on Adtran routers, but pfSense seems completely different.
