      Hi all,
I found this tool that is called CPU-X and it just like CPUZ but for Linux and it runs on *BSD systems it has a ncurses version and was thinking that it could be turned into a package and have a widget for the front end display.

Another great reason to install this on a pfsense system is for when a "Computer / Network Support Technician" want to know the CPUs/PC/Networks state  it will tell them if the CPU is dieing e.g. A thread or core might be dead in a CPU making the system unstable this would help the Technician diagnose the problem or even make it easy for anyone to see this problem before it goes down.

Also makes it easy to see what hardware is running on the system.

      More info Info below here:

*CPU-X  linux runs on BSD systems image is of ncurses version

Screenshots of different OS it runs on here: https://github.com/X0rg/CPU-X/wiki/Screenshots

Found this tool set to turn ncurses version into widgets but this is out of my league.

does that happen? i've never witnessed it … ( in my experience  a cpu is either dead or working, no middle ground)

Yeah it happens, once back in 2014 I had a Intel QX9650 Core2Extreme 3Ghz 1600Mhz and it was faulty, you could only see 2 of 4 cores. Because it would only just see 2 cores CPUZ would see it as a Xeon E5472 SLBBH LGA771 LGA775 12M 1600Mhz CPU so they can see faults in Hardware as they will not read the chip right or it will display in another way like missing threads.

I no longer have this chip I have replaced it with a QX9770 Core2Extreme 3.2Ghz 1600Mhz> this is my old gamming system. I have my pfsense build on it now. ;D

Have at it… I see zero reason for such a thing..  Its a firewall, pretty sure will know what cpu it has on it before I set it up ;)  After that would have zero reason to look at this info..

if did need any such info, could just read dmesg or sysctl

            [2.3.2-RELEASE][root@pfsense.local.lan]/root: sysctl hw.model hw.machine hw.ncpu
            hw.model: AMD Turion™ II Neo N40L Dual-Core Processor
            hw.machine: amd64
            hw.ncpu: 2
