I have noticed that when the DHCP service is starting up the network interface goes offline for about 90 seconds.

This happens when I make a change to the DHCP service that requires a restart to the system while running. I did a stop, then start (instead of restart) and the network only goes off line at startup. This also seemed to happen when I restart the DNS Resolver.

I do not recall having this issue before, but to be honest I have only had this box in use for 4 days.

      Current Version

      2.3.2-RELEASE-p1 (amd64)
built on Tue Sep 27 12:13:07 CDT 2016
      FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-p9

Any pointers in the right direction here would be great.

      Thanks in advance.

        1. What type of interface is it?
        2. What specific changes are you trying to make
        3. Have you checked Status:System Logs: most likely you would want to check dhcp and system.

More info would be helpful  ;D

Thanks here are some additional details. Let me know what else you may need to assist. Appreciate the assistance.

1 - LAN interface - Intel based NIC - Here are the specs - https://www.amazon.com/Firewall-Micro-Appliance-Intel-PFSense/dp/B01H2QJTM4
2 - The change does not seem to matter, if I go to the service and click restart I have this issue.
3 - Nothing seemed to jump out at me when I looked. Is there something specific you think I should be looking for here?

          Thanks again

Hrm, seems the problem has gone away this morning. Not very reassuring. When things just "go back to normal" I always get uncomfortable.

Will have to track more closely to see if I can see what the deal is.

If anyone else has seen a DHCP / DNS Service Restart impact network availability and can share that would be great.

            Thanks again.
