Support for Syba SI-PEX24042 4 port
-
Hi all, new here and embarking on my first setup. Using an i5 lenovo with Syba SI-PEX24042 on the PCIEx1 and 2.3.3 release AMD64. Easy install went fine. Wan connection on built-in nic worked fine as well. However LAN no the Syba SI-PEX24042 (uses 8168 which is listed as supported) does not work. windows PC gets an IP from DHCP but cannot connect to pfsense (192.168.1.1)both ICMP (ping is failing) and TCP (cannot get to web config).
It's interesting that pfsense is aware of the connection (hot plug event, DHCP IP, no route to host when unplugging) but cannot pass any traffic.Any suggestions are appreciated.

Update: things work when running tcpdump (promiscuous mode) on the re2 where a PC is connected to.
Also; MAC address detection was duplicated (and bad? as it was set to "00:00:00:00:00:03" ) for two of the four ports. (another strange thing is that after setting both MACs manually and rebooting only one continued to use the 03 MAC, the other retained the custom address I set)But even with the custom MAC addresses the LAN port only works when tcpdump is running.
Any thoughts?

Finally got everything working. my main issue was not enabling the interfaces (puts interface in promisc mode, so basically that IS the working mode) and then not configuring the bridge properly.
I followed these posts and got things right:
https://www.infotechwerx.com/blog/Creating-a-Simple-pfSense-Bridge
https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=48947.msg269592#msg269592Two ports were still showing wrong MAC ("00:00:00:00:00:03") so I spoofed all 4 ports to a "correct" MAC, also spoofing the Bridge MAC was a required step for things to work.
Anyhow; now that it's all working I regret abit getting all these NICs (the 4 port Syba and two two-port intels) as it seems all switching is done by software, I use a nice spec machine (3.20GHz Quad Core i5-3470 8gb, 100 bucks off ebay) but still would have probably been better off buying a switch as I am loading both PCI and PCIe x1 bus and I run almost all addons (suricata, ntopng, DNSBL etc.)
Moving on to learn how to use all of these groovy tools…
