      My setup is as follow.

      MOBO - Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD3
      Processor - Intel i5-4440
      RAM - 8GB
      SSD - 120 GB Samsung EVO 850

I purchased a Intel 4 port NIC from eBay.  Received it and installed it and when system boots just get a blinking cursor.  Take it out and system boots.  Installed a 1 port TP-Link NIC and system boots just fine.  Could the NIC be bad?  Or my system can't handle a Intel Pro NIC.

Here is a link to the card I purchased.

Thanks for the help in advanced

Cheap Intel multiport NICs are notorious for being counterfeit or otherwise dodgy. If you're lucky you can return it, otherwise toss it and try again.

thank you,  Just contacted the seller.  Lets see if he takes it back.  Any clues on what to look for when purchasing an Intel card?

Search for "Intel Quad Port" on Ebay, and choose for the cards with the bigger alu heatsink, like the attached picture.
I use these all the time and they work great with pfSense.
All the Intel Dual or Quad port adapters that where cheap and have black colored heatsinks, gave me problems.

              Hi,

Have you used these 4 port intel nics for Suricata inline?

I'm looking for a suitable card for a 2.4 build.

              Cheers

              Jon

                (From a long-time Dell user)
The listing says: Genuine Dell and if that's true and it's most probably not gonna work on retail motherboard. Dells are notorious with their compatibility issues with other H/W. Thought I'll just mention…...
