      How fast is the hardware?

Perhaps it is underpowered for that task.

        @maverick_slo:

Out of couriosity, why one box with 100+ interfaces?

Lots of VLANsĀ  (Hotel with dedicated VLAN per room - for in-room controls and media devices).

It is your NETGATEĀ  SG-4860 1U

CPU doesn't seem to struggle at all.Ā  and it is ONLY when viewing the interfaces screen.
All other items work just fine (VLAN screen is fine - which also has over 100 instances)

Which page(s) specifically in the GUI are doing that? And when you're taking which actions?

When loading the page? Submitting the page? Both?

LoadingĀ  (haven't got to submitting yet - as it won't load).

However, if I export the interfaces - add the data in the XML markup and import it back (which is what I've been doing) it works perfectly fine.
So I'm guessing submitting would work fine as long as the page-load rendering worked.

I should add - this only started when we moved to 2.3

I should have brought it up months ago - but assumed it was a temporary issue and would be patched.Ā
Now that we are 2.3.3 I figured I should probably bring it up in case it wasn't known.

I've been using pfSense for over 10 yrs so having this being the first issue that prevented me from doing something native is impressive :)

(packages have broken many times over the years - as to be expected) but core pfSense has been nothing short of an amazing, rock solid product.
Which is why all our boxes are purchased through netgate now!

I recently bulk added 256 VLANs / Interfaces to an existing pfSense box with some python script and had this exact same issue, web panel slows to a crawl on certain pages and delivers 504 on interface_assign.php
Figured it was my own dumb fault and tbh it's taken me far longer than it should have to find this thread and that bug report!Ā  ::)

Thanks for posting, saved me half a day of bother. :)
