Missing Serial Number in Console after Upgrade SG-4860
-
Hello,
I upgraded to pfSense 2.3.3_1 today and also updated to the latest Netgate firmware from the command line.
Now it appears the serial number is missing in the console home page as follows:System Netgate SG-4860 Serial:
Any ideas how to get the Serial back in console?
thanks,

The instructions have been updated. If you followed the guide and now your pfSense dashboard shows symbols instead of units serial, please contact us for a fix. It's purely a cosmetic issue so no need to panic. Please contact support@netgate.com if your unit is not displaying a serial. We apologize for any inconvenience.

My SG-4860 came with the .08-nodebug release but in mail swap with a pfSense buddy I was told there was a .12 available. I'd been meaning to do the update so I ran the remote instructions from the Netgate site and it rebooted with no issues and shows the correct serial number on the Dashboard. (then I found your response)
https://www.netgate.com/docs/sg-4860/adi-bios-flash.html
So I'm assuming the information at the site is the "updated" version you speak of?
FYI: I was already on the 2.3.3-RELEASE-p1

Yup, if the serial is correctly displayed on the Dashboard, you have followed the correct documentation.

Cool, thanks ivor.
I must admit, it's a bit ironic that the "remote" update requires someone onsite for the physical power cycle. I understand why.
For me, the remote option was just easier than generating an image on a stick and remote for me is merely upstairs/downstairs.
