Getting started ✔︎ Solved

Hi everyone!
Setting up commercial firewall appliances isn't an uncharted territory for me but pfSense is.
What I'm trying to do is to make my own router/firewall/ap based on pfsense.
Hardware: industrial small factor pc C2D 4Gb SSD onboard nic for WAN USB nic for LAN and mPCI WiFi
So far iI've got:
-
onboard NIC to connect to my ISP fiber ( PPPOE VLANx ) and got valid WAN IP
-
cerated a bridge
-
created virtual NIC and connected it to bridge ( static IP )
-
set up DHCP on virtual NIC conceded to bridge
-
USB & WiFi NIC to bridge ( IP conf none )
-
configured WiFi NIC as AP
-
disabled packet filtering and firewall ( for easier troubleshooting )
result:
-
DHCP working on LAN web configurator accessible ( via USB NIC connected to bridge )
-
WiFi connection, but no DHCP ︎ Solved after cold reboot
-
ISP connection, but no access to internet ︎ Solved thanks to ptt

- cerated a bridge
What for ?
https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/What_is_a_bridged_interface_and_how_would_one_be_used
- created virtual NIC and connected it to bridge ( static IP )
"Virtual NIC" ?
disabled packet filtering and firewall ( for easier troubleshooting )
And you also have disabled NAT
https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Outbound_NAT#Disable_NAT
so what on earth I'm doing wrong?
get rid of the Bridge, enable FW/NAT, and "Start Simple"
Just with WAN - LAN
https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Connectivity_Troubleshooting

What for ?
To use pfsense as Access Point and prevent any filtering between LAN and WLAN
https://blog.artooro.com/2015/02/20/how-to-configure-wi-fi-in-pfsense/
https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/howto-configure-wireless-bridge-access-point-in-pfsense/"Virtual NIC" ?
Sins it's not connected to physical NIC I call it virtual
And you also have disabled NAT
Good point! I.ve overlooked that. Also forgot to check default gateway on WAN.
Thanks, WAN is working now. :)get rid of the Bridge, enable FW/NAT, and "Start Simple"
Just with WAN - LAN
Wel I've started simple but it didn't work, no DHCP on WLAN
So instead sitting on the flor near the router I've focused on getting WiFi to work first.Thank's again for pointing out my mistake. Now let's focus on WiFi AP part.

Pfsense isn't an accesspoint. Use a dedicated ap.

I disagree, read this http://pfsensesetup.com/wireless-access-point-configuration-in-pfsense/

if you bolt wings to a car, you can probably make it fly.
it still wont be an airplanebut be my guest to go ahead with your project, some people like flying cars
