Partition issue when trying to create overprovision partition

Im trying to install Pfsense on a SSD i have laying around, im trying to partition the SSD so that it has over provision. Ive allocated the sectors in the format partition screen, but when i try to format it says:
'' is not a recognized partition type. Please use a numeric identifier if you wish to use an unlisted partition type
The options for partition type are FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD,Ms-DOS,Linux or Plan9.
Now, i dont want to format this partition for any of these type.. i just want to leave it unallocated for over provisioning.
I try to enter a numeric identifier (ie a number) but it wont let me. It just seems that it wants me to select on of the options listed above.
So i try to partition the disk with a single partition and not create two partitions, as in just create the one partition of 70gb on the 128gb drive. However the install tells me that the partition is smaller than the entire size of the disk and only gives me the options to 'Expand to the 250069617 sectors' (the whole disk) or 'return to edit partitions'.

Try it on 2.4. Completely new/different installer there.
If it's broken on the installer in 2.3.x it is not likely to ever be fixed since we have moved to a different installer.

Confirming this has been a problem for a while. You cannot set a partition size smaller than the disk size.
I got around this by installing on an old 64GB SSD, imaging that with clonezilla, and then restoring the 64GB image to a new 128GB SSD, which left 1/2 unallocated. Not the best method for everyone, but it was quick and dirty and workable for me.
