Most any of those refurb/used SFF systems will work. Intel NIC's are prefferred but if they don't include one just make sure you can add a card.

If you want to future proof your purchase make sure the CPU supports AES-NI as that's what will be needed in a future release of pfSense.

Got off track and looking at this processor for a build. I'd think it would be plenty for my needs. Intel Celeron G3930

Also, I don't need an OS because Pfsense is stand alone correct?

Should, what is your connection speed and what, if any, packages do you plan on running?

              pfSense is all you need.

Connection speed is only 120 megs. I run a Blue Iris camera system on it. Will probably only be running about 10 cams on it. VPN definitely.  Haven't investigated any other packages. I'm sure I'll tinker with them. Typically have about 20 connections on the network between kids, video games, tablets, TV's, streamsmart box, and phones.

Will be running 8 gigs of memory and a 120 ssd most likely.

That will all be serious overkill but would definitely be future proof.

You should be good with 4 gigs. Even a small sized SSD will be fine. You wouldn't need more than a couple of gigs. If you have an old hard drive or laptop drive laying around then use that.
