Unable to boot
-
Hello,
Power outtage happened and now I'm unable to boot into pfsense. I've connected via console and I'm able to see that list of 16 commands you can run.
When I try option 6 to halt I get thisFatal error: Call to undefined function system_halt() in /etc/rc.initial.halt on line 70 Call Stack: 0.0012 213080 1\. {main}() /etc/rc.initial.halt:0 PHP ERROR: Type: 1, File: /etc/rc.initial.halt, Line: 70, Message: Call to undefined function system_halt()*** Welcome to pfSense 2.3.2-RELEASE (amd64 full-install) on ramrod ***
Option 5 has similar results. I can't even restart the webconfigurator
Restarting webConfigurator... Fatal error: Call to undefined function system_webgui_start() in /etc/rc.restart_webgui on line 69 Call Stack: 0.0011 213584 1\. {main}() /etc/rc.restart_webgui:0 PHP ERROR: Type: 1, File: /etc/rc.restart_webgui, Line: 69, Message: Call to undefined function system_webgui_start()*** Welcome to pfSense 2.3.2-RELEASE (amd64 full-install) on ramrod ***
What should I do?

Looks like some files are missing/corrupt.
It's possible you could boot into single user mode, run "fsck -y /" a few times, and then reboot and it may be OK, but reinstalling it would be safer.
You can reboot it from the shell (option 8) using "shutdown -r now" or "reboot", since the PHP commands to do it in a safer manner are not working.

I'm amazed that a single power outage is enough to corrupt the entire OS.

It normally isn't. There is something else contributing to it in most cases.
Between the devs and support crew we have hundreds of installs on bare metal and VMs and they get powered off abruptly more often than not, and we can never reproduce these issues in-house or in home labs.
It can happen, yes, but it is not the norm.

Thanks for all the replies. I went the 'nuclear' option by doing a complete re-install. Of course I was an idiot and didn't have a recent backup of the config so I had to run a memstick installer in recovery mode to copy the latest config first from the drive.
I've also hard pulled the plug hundreds of times on this bare metal box without issue…so idk.
