    Hi all,

I have managed to get PFSense working on a Windows 10 box via Hyper-v to save another pc running!

It works really well with no difference in speeds except when the pc maxes out the CPU as it runs my plex server, this doesn't happen very often though! i7 920 with 18GB ram

Issue I have is that the main PC NIC stops working after a short time (Intel CT Desktop)! WAN, LAN (Intel Pro 1000 PT Dual) and OPT1 (Realtek onbard, not currently connected) all have their own NIC alocated. When the issue occurs WAN & LAN are fine, meaning the internet connection is fine and PFSense is able to be logged into! The PC is uncontactable through remote desktop or ping.

The first time this happened I was running a individual Realtek NICs and it appeared that both the PC and LAN NIC were both on Network 3, not sure if this is an issue or meant to happen.

I did import the settings from my old system!

Any advise or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

so the host machine becomes unreachable, but the pfsense-VM keeps running fine ?

maybe there are overlapping subnets at work & windoze shits it's pants after a while ?

        Yes

        Quite possible!

When this first happened the Host Nic lost it's config and I was unable to add it back in as there was a gateway duplication. Yesterday when it happened the Host NIc still had it's config. I need the host on the same network otherwise we can't use plex etc.

          Yes

Have you got any solution yet? i encountered it once while running plex. But did not look into it further. The host here becomes unreachable too.

I am not sure if I have done the correct thing however I noticed that the vEthernet (LAN) had a default gateway of PFSense so I removed it and change to DHCP, I also removed IP6 from all the Nics.

Seems to be ok so far but only been up for 10 mins or so!

            Update:

Up for over 2 hours and all seems ok
