I’m in the process of buying an old PC & network card to build my own pfsense box.

The HP 8200 Elite I’ve purchased has a PCIe x16 but will only take low profile cards.

Is this cisco usce-pcie-irj45 considered a “low profile card” and will it be any good for use with pfsense?

      The network card: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/272507863542

      Thanks :-)

The card you linked is low-profile, but very expensive. Ideally for home use, the intel i340-t4 is perfect and Chinese knock offs can be bought new for around $40 USD off ebay.

        Here's one for $62 AU –-  http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Intel-E1G44HT-82580EB-PCI-E-Quad-Ports-Network-Server-Adapter-Card-i340-T4-Nic-/272576056868?hash=item3f76cc8e24:g:QPgAAOSwOgdYwtbG

          Thank you very much.

          You saved me some money!

          That’s great.

          I’ll purchase this one now.
