      Hello

My main LAN subnet is 192.168.40.0/24
I often test/update/setup WLAN routers that have a default IP in the 192.168.1… range.
I really hate changing my IP ever time to access these devices, and then lose internet access for manual/files etc.
Is there a way around this?

      What I tried:
Added a VLAN with the IP 192.168.1.100 and opened the firewall.
Then configured a VLAN switch port (untagged) to that subnet and connected the WLAN router (LAN port, not WAN).
I can only ping 192.168.1.100 but not the router.
I'm guessing because it has no default gateway and can't answer back.

      Any tips?

Why do you not just change the wlan router (that I assume your using as AP) lan IP to be on your network 192.168.40?

Or just source nat traffic so your access from 192.168.40 to the vlan the AP is on.. This way the device does not need a gateway it just thinks what is accessing it is on the same network as it.

Or : use a Wifi capable device, use it to connect to the WLAN device, login and change it's IP.

Edit : and where are the logs ??
