      Hey guys,

Couple days ago, I put in an order for the following board. I should have the rest of the build items in the next 2 weeks. I plan to outfit it with 4GB of RAM too.

      http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Atom/X10/A1SRM-2558F.cfm

I picked it up from provantage for around $235 which I thought was a pretty good deal. I realize that it may be better supported with pfSense 2.2, but for now at home, I think 2.1 should serve just fine.

I was wondering what everything thought this board/processor could effectively do for routing, firewalling, squid caching? What kind of throughput will I likely see? Thanks!

That number seems to be in dispute currently. Netgate/ESF published some numbers for their C2758 box but at least one member here has reported much better numbers.  :) I would not expect the C2558 to be much behind those, probably identical for firewall/NAT. If you run more than 4 heavy processes you might see if fall behind. Once 2.2 is out the 8 cores in the 2758 will puch it ahead.
