OTG and wireless issues on SG-1000
-
Hey folks!
So I had this idea of using an SG-1000 as a travel router. I know I'm not alone because there are other great threads on this topic. I wanted to try to add two wireless devices:
Device 1 - connect as client to iPhone for wifi tethering
Device 2 - AP mode for wLAN clientsI got an SG-1000 and two of the Buffalo N USB devices that were recommended. And I got this OTG splitter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OZDUTMM/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_x_yDSOzbA5D3FKF
And for a brief moment, it worked!
I could see both wireless devices, I was in the process of adding them and then the OTG header popped right off the MoBo on the SG-1000 I had. :o
So, I got another SG-1000 and I'm back at it. Only now this time, the SG-1000 (running 2.4 beta) won't see the USB dongles. I've tested them on a Mac and they show up fine. I don't have an easy way to test the OTG cable, so I've ordered another.
I've also tried testing only one USB dongle at a time, etc. No joy.
Anyone have any troubleshooting tips I might try?
(my ultimate goal would be to tether an iPhone via USB, but it looks like getting ipheth on 2.4.x on the SG-1000's arm board is a bit out of my reach)

the plot thickens!
After several reboots, it started almost working.
The interface comes up and goes down frequently. I was briefly able to connect to an iPhone in wifi tether mode and could, on occasion, ping 8.8.8.8 which is –in itself —a huge win.
But the device state is so spotty it's not usable.

I have a run(4) device that works just fine as an access point but I've never been able to make it work usefully as a client.
Try configuring them both as APs and see if they work fine like that. If not there might be a power issue though I wouldn't expect it.
