      hahahahaha

You have just made me want it even more :)

I have never been able to login, there must be some type of disconnect between the gui and the auth db that it uses.
I could not even get the CLI commands to work properly.

      Wish somebody could help

Well, here's how to do it, but it doesn't seem to stick.
Your path may be different?  I found it by looking in the process list.

Show the current encrypted admin password-
        /usr/pbi/ntopng-amd64/local/bin/redis-cli get user.admin.password

Get your encrypted password using md5-
        echo -n 'yourPassword' | md5

        Set the admin password-
        /usr/pbi/ntopng-amd64/local/bin/redis-cli set user.admin.password [whatYouGotFromLastCommand]

So I just did this again, and what was in redis was not what I previously set, just not sure what or how it got changed.

Well, feel kind of dumb here.  Didn't realize there was a Settings page in pfSense for ntopng, so I think pfSense was resetting the perhaps.

thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it.

The MD5 hashes are the same so the passwords dont seem to be my problem, as I originally believed

It still does not log into NTOPNG from the webgui and does not show any indication of the anything being wrong, it's as if the page just refreshes.

what else can I look at ?

Is there a way to login via the CLI?

pfSense 2.3.2 - same problem. If I go to settings page anda put a new passwd works.

The problem is the version of ntopng is old…there is a new version available and i think the pfsense folks were waiting for it to be packed for bsd.
