Why did you get another router?
So you have this
isp router - other router - pfsense - your devices?
For what possible reason?? Would you think you need this other router?
What is the make and model number of the devices you have connected, and how do you have them connected?
Pfsense should be at the very edge of your network.. If possible then yes your "isp" device should be just a modem or if it was a gateway in "bridge" mode so it does not do nat and pfsense gets public IP on its wan..
Adding another router between your isp device and pfsense makes no sense..

He wrote that he exchanged the router not added a new one if I am understanding correctly .
As for op just see what wan IP you are getting in pfsense dashboard if it is a external or a internal such as 192.168.x.x, Just disabling wifi does not mean it is in bridge mode

I'm sorry I should have been more specific on my setup…..
My old isp supplied router also had the phone function on it, which I never used and do not need so I swapped it out hoping I would get just a modem not a modem router combo. When they gave me the new router I told them I have a router and do not need wifi and don't want their router to do any routing, when they disabled the wifi on it they told me, which I'm thinking is not true, that it will not handle routing nat etc...
My setup is isp modem/router then pfsence box then unmanaged switch then my pcs consoles and an access point.
When I initially set everything up when I still had the triple play package I had routing/wifi capability on the isp router. This was causing issues with speeds so after doing a little research I put the isps router into bridge mode, essentially turning it into a modem.
I have a feeling what they told me is not true and I'm back to having doubles nat. Like I said before I'm not a networking guru but I can get by on what I do know or I can use YouTube or forums for help. I don not know how to test for double nat, but I have a very strong feeling that is my problem.
After I swapped routers my Xbox was having a lot of trouble connecting to live, so right now I have my Xbox connected straight to the isp router, which opened my nat and made getting online 1000x faster.

Pfsence wan has an external ip… yes you did read it correctly I swapped routers and did not add another one. I have a feeling what you said about the bridge mode is correct and time warner/spectrum has no clue what they are talking aboit

If you have external IP on pf WAN you are not double NATTING. What modem/router do you have?

So what would be the best fix…having isp enable wifi so I can log in and put it into bridge mode, or setting up everything from pfsence to devices with static ip?

What is your ISP modem/router? some ISP router need to have the firewall turned off like Aris

Ahh Aris you must also turn off its firewall, Aris does not have bridgemode option you must turn off everything manually. disable NAT,DHCP,FIREWALL and Wifi

virgin superhub has the same function. but its called modem mode. on the super hub the normal web gui is located at 192.168.0.1 when its placed into modem mode this changes to 192.168.100.1 however if you was to log into the pfsense gui it will show an external ip address not a internal ip on the wan connection. hope this helps.

I'm unable to log into it to adjust any settings…is this because they disabled the wifi? I'm attempting to log in wired not wirelessly

default user name is admin
default password is passwordif they have changed it you may need to reset it to factory

factory reset the Aris and login to it yourself and disable everything like NAT/firewall/dhcp

Ok so I did a little more research and you can log into the modem while in bridge mode. It's 192.168.100.1
Under basic setup I disabled routing and wireless
Under firewall, firewall dos attack protection block pings and block fragmented packets are all disabled
Under lan settings dhcp server dns override and dns relay are disabled and put nat into bridge mode
Tested speed and its still not where it should be, it ranges anywhere from 12- a little under 30
I found a video on YouTube that also goes into wan settings and disables dhcp, when I tried to disable it pops up with a "please set static up first", is my next step to set up a static ip?
If yes can I copy/paste the ip subnet and gateway over to the static options, and also what goes into the primary secondary and tertiary DNS server ip domain name and Mtu size….currently everything is all 0's except domain name and mtu size

Does your ISP offer you a static IP ? I do not see where this comes to play. What port number are you using on your Aris? try other lan ports
