    Hi

    Firstly I'll apologise for my lack of linux knowledge.

    I am trying to get PFsense up and running on a HyperV based server, which is an OVH dedicated server.

    OVH provided me with an additional IP which i have applied to the firewall, I know this IP works as have applied it to windows VM and everything was as expected. The problem comes because the gateway is on a different range to the IP itself. OVH does some switched based trickery to get this working and windows can handle a default gateway on a different range just fine.

    PFSense doesn't seem to like it very much. OVH have not been very helpful, but did tell me:

    "As pfSense is based on FreeBSD, you will need to add these configurations in /etc/rc.conf:

    ifconfig_em0="inet IP.FAIL.OVER netmask 255.255.255.255 broadcast IP.FAIL.OVER"
    static_routes="net1 net2"
    route_net1="-net GATEWAY_VM/32 IP.FAIL.OVER"
    route_net2="default GATEWAY_VM""
    "

    as example, the IP.FAIL.OVER is 1.1.10.1, GATEWAY 1.1.1.1, HyperV host is 1.1.1.2

    PFsense doesn't use rc.conf, so i'm wondering where I need to add these lines?

    Any help would be great. I'm on 2.3.4-RELEASE (amd64)

    Thanks

      pfSense can also handle a gateway in a different range, but you do need to check the 'Use non-local gateway' advanced option.

        @PiBa:

        Thanks

        I am not seeing this option under advanced though?
