Best Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX for Dual Wan ond OpenVPN
-
I am wanting to build a Dual WAN router to replace my current Draytek which is now several years old.
Currently there are two ADSL2+ connection both get about 15Mbps, fibre or anything faster is not available in my area.
Ideal setup would be to direct different traffic through the different WAN. Say General traffic through WAN 1 and torrent-P2P and CrashPlan through WAN 2.
I also wish to have two VPN services ( eg. HideMyAss or IPVanish) configured using OpenVPN in the router one to hand general traffic and a second one to deal with torrent/P2P.
This will be a new build as I don't have an old PC.
Are there any Micro or Macro boards with 4 Giga Ethernet ports if not what is the most suitable motherboard?
What speed of processor should I be looking at given the VPN configuration?
I would like to build router to be fast enough to use when I do get Fibre.
All help greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Yes, quad LAN port boards exist.
On my search I found Asus and Supermicro server boards with 4 x Intel LAN.
But they are expensive, if it is only for a PfSense router you can get something less expensive.http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/C220/X10SLM_-LN4F.cfm
Cheers.

Yes I also found two both by Jetway;

As I am new to this I am not sure how fast a Atom Dual Core D525 1.80GHz will go especial processing OpenVPN on dual WAN.
The expansion on both of the above boards is limited and I don't know if there is any way to add say a Cryptographic Accelerators card if it was needed.
May be someone could advise how well these board will run on the own.
Cheers

hi,
See my posts here: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=73518.45
I have the GA-J1900N-D3V running quite nicely now. At £63 for the board you cannot complain.
Runs VPN (server and client) without breaking out a sweat.
