Round robin for dns forwarder network address
-
I have a round robin list of ips for one of my storage nodes but so far on pfsense 2.3.3-RELEASE (amd64) I am only able to add the one ip address in host overrides in the dns forwarder.
I read somewhere that creating a list /etc/roundrobin
8.8.8.8 google.com.local
8.8.4.4 google.com.localand then add in the dns forwarder addn-hosts=/tmp/roundrobin
But where do I add this in the pfsense version I have. Has anyone got round robin working on pfsense?

But where do I add this in the pfsense version I have.
In the "Custom options" entry field.
(I would restart the forwarder and check that the "addn-hosts=/tmp/roundrobin " is present in the config file ).
I don't know how the forwarder could "round robin" hosts ….

Not sure if you can or with forwarder, but this is pretty simple in the resolver (unbound)
You can just do it in the custom options box..
server:
rrset-roundrobin: yes
local-zone: "google.com.local" transparent
local-data: "google.com.local A 8.8.8.8"
local-data: "google.com.local A 8.8.4.4"So see how it changes the order of returned.
Curious what possible function this could? For pointing to googledns?
