I have a router in a different state that runs PFSENSE (1.2.3-RELEASE built on Tue Dec 8 22:29:57 UTC 2009).  I am able to remotely access my router (currently), but am worried the cable company IP address may change again.

In the firmware of PFSENSE I see under Services->Dynamic DHS that I can put in my purchased DynDNS yada.net IP address.  I've placed that in "hostname" in the pfense firmware, and selected "DynDNS (dynamic)" from the Service type drop down.  I left MX blank and did not check enable wildcard.  I supplied my DynDNS username and password and hit save.

But I'm not sure the router is actually updating my DynDNS account with the current IP address.

At the bottom of the PFSENSE page is this note, "Note:
You must configure a DNS server in System: General setup or allow the DNS server list to be overridden by DHCP/PPP on WAN for dynamic DNS updates to work."

Does that apply to me?  Is that the reason it's not updating?  I've never set that portion up, and I'm not sure what the IP addresses for the two DNS servers are.

Thanks for any help with my very NOOB question.

From my logs, it appears it's trying but I'm getting a "bad auth" for the payload?

But then it seems like it has succeeded later?

I checked the host update log on DynDNS and it doesn't show any updates?  Perhaps because the update from above is the same IP address as was used previously?

Are you using your email or your account username.  The client doesnt work with email as your username.

BTW, obscure your IP address in your posts.
