The config is fine as-is so long as you do not restore it to an older version. For example, you have been running 2.4, so you can't restore that configuration to a 2.3.x system. Reinstall with a factory installation image and then restore your configuration afterward. There is no supported way to switch in-place between CE and Factory.

Ok. I was expecting the reload of the OS image… just wasn't sure if something in my CE config would replace/overwrite something in the factory setup. Glad to know I can just reload my CE config onto the factory version.

I purchased a replacement board for my SG-2440, from Netgate, when lightning struck my home about 2 years ago.
It was shipped to me with the "Community Edition" loaded on it.

Why would this be - if it is official hardware?
Did I receive a used board?

It may have been flashed with the wrong image in error. We don't replace with used boards.

In my case, my C2758 with the factor image would not complete booting over the weekend (assumed HDD corruption), and I had to install the community edition (as I could not find a factory image provided with the hardware or on the web).

I created a ticket in the NetGate support site to get a factory image and was told that I had to subscribe to one of their support plans ($$$$) to get an image.  This seems crazy as I bought the hardware with the factory image.  Why can one not re-obtain that image?  That is like buying a Cisco router and then having to pay to download/reinstall a FW image.

Is there a way for someone who purchased the official pfSense hardware to obtain the official factory image which came with the original equipment?

Would love to hear how to solve this.

              Thanks in advance.

You'll need to register for an account in the pfSense portal (https://portal.pfsense.org) and register your pfSense device with your account. After that, there should be a box with a link to factory reinstall images. Not sure which model of device with the C2758 you have (I think there are two), and that might impact which image version you download. It should be noted that only released versions are available, so 2.4 (which is VERY close to release) is not there yet.

I must be slow as I am registered in the portal and a current Gold subscriber, but I do not see any way in there to register my device.  Attached are the portal options available to me.  The edit profile page only provides the ability to update items like name/address.

Where on the portal does one register their device?

                  Thanks again.

Not really sure what you expecting from the factory image, beyond the HW-specific "tuning" that made yours unbootable, plus ~3 additional preinstalled packages you most likely have absolutely no use for, such as the AWS VPN.
