*** Welcome to pfSense 2.4.1-DEVELOPMENT (amd64) on rtr *** -
Found this advice if the system was having an issue with the update branch
pkg update -f
pkg unlock pfSense-kernel-pfSense
pkg upgrade -fy
pkg lock pfSense-kernel-pfSense
Reboot from the console menu or using /etc/rc.rebootas expected, It took me to the latest 2.4 RC (10-09-1758)
but unfortunately, It still does not see any updates on either Stable or Dev Snapshots firmware branch.

The 2.4.1 snapshot builds are stopped at the moment to free up resources as we finalize 2.4-RELEASE. They'll start again later this week.

Perfect!
I had assumed that since I saw newer versions that they should show up via the update feature, but it makes sense that the functionality has been suspended till release. Thanks for the explanation.
