Open-VM-Tools for V11 Kernel in PFSense 2.4?
-
Any timetable on when Open-VM-Tools will be updated to support the new V11 kernel? Although PFSense runs all-right on ESXi with the older tools, it doesn't have the kernel modules for efficient running while in virtualization, and consumes about 5 times more CPU.

Is there a newer port for freebsd?
I show the package in pfsense being current..

The version is current, but it probably needs to be re-compiled to produce V11 kmods.
-
The tools on 2.4 are compiled against FreeBSD 11.1/2.4 already.
You're probably seeing some other symptom (like SNMP using too much CPU)

Fair enough. Looks like they are loaded. I'm getting some errors about loading them at boot, which sent me down the wrong path, but they are certainly there:
: /usr/local/etc/rc.d/vmware-kmod status
Checking vmmemctl kernel module: loaded.
Checking vmxnet kernel module: loaded.
Checking vmblock kernel module: loaded.
: kldstat
