Is this highlighted bit of text below stored anywhere on the filesystem? I couldn't find it.
Dove down the rabbit hole from pkg_mgr_install.php –> pkg-utils.inc --> get_system_pkg_version() but dead ended.

I realize I can get it by running:

      pkg info pfSense-base

…was just wondering if it was available anywhere else.

With that formatting, just run the pkg info pfSense-base package.

You can get close with the contents of /etc/version and /etc/version.buildtime
