Unable to make bootable

Hello,
I have downloaded both Memstick and the CD ISO version on AMD64 used Win32diskImgager to make the usb bootable and it wont boot from from the usb stick
i have gone into boot options by hitting F12 on this motherboard which is a gigabyte B150N all i get is a flashing cursor
any help would be great thanks

I am having the same issue. There appears to be some incompatibility with the new 2.4 memstick most likely related to BIOS, because even the freebsd memstick images are working for me.
Trying to figure out a workaround, will let you know if I come up with anything…

Have you tried Rufus?

There was an issue where the host would not boot properly if the USB stick was in a a USB 3.0 port. Try it in a USB 2.0 port see if that helps.
I've had issues with Rufus, sometimes I need to re-write the stick a couple of times before it will properly install, it still boots though, just fails decompressing the kernel or similar.

I have both these issues. First….73 views and 0 replies on my posting.
Second was this issue. For me I was caught by both USB3 and the partitioning already on my drive. In the end three things work every time. I use the ISO image, a USB2 flash drive, and I write the image with Etcher which seems to be a little slower than Rufus, but always sees the drive regardless of the partitioning on it.

Thanks for the feedback, I will give this a try. After taking a sleep break I came across this info stating that they know there are support issues with some BIOS systems, and give a link to workarounds to attempt.

I followed your link and see that 2.4 "New pfSense installer based on bsdinstall, with support for…UEFI" but I don't read that as it requires UEFI.
What if you go into your BIOS and remove any "UEFI:" boot options to boot non-UEFI?
Also regarding that bullet point it specifies that the memstick image is GPT. Your mobo manual hints that GPT has to be UEFI for booting. So maybe the ISO download isn't a GPT partition…I would download that first and give it a shot.

I see its not just me who is having issue i see booting from USB, I will give 2.0 a try and Rufus, al keep you posted
the bios is on a 15 to 17 year board it has the AMD FX 64 in it, i love this old style bios brings back so many memories
