I want to connect a second internet provider to my pfsense firewall
-
Hi Im very new to this pfsense firewall thingy, Ive been using it for less then a month.
1. Is it possible to connect 2 internet providers that use DHCP to the same pfsense firewall if I have the network interfaces for it?
2. What about a possible DHCP conflict if both providers use DHCP?
3. Can you dedicate 1 line to upstream and 1 line for downstream?

answers are as follows:
1: Yes, you can, even if you don't have sufficient physical NIC's you can VLAN a WAN connection
2: No, there won't be an issue with that
3. Yes if you really want to, just set a rule on your LAN interface to use a particular gateway for all your outbound traffic. -
3. Yes if you really want to, just set a rule on your LAN interface to use a particular gateway for all your outbound traffic.
But if you're not advertising a specific IP network (almost certainly you're not, or you're running BGP, have an ASN, and wouldn't be asking those questions here, etc) all the return traffic for those outbound connections will come back over the same circuit so you won't have one for upload and one for download.
