Intel Atom Desktop Board D525MW
-
Hello,
Recently i got the latest stable pfsense version running into the following system:
Motherboard Intel D525MW
Memory 2GB
Storage SSD
Network card PCI 32bit Dual port Gigabit Ethernet 8492MT Intel82546 Manufacturer DIE WUfor many years i wanted to install pfsense, i am very excited with pfsense but i get this output
[ 254 ] generic_find_num_desc called, in tx 1024 rx 1024
[ 262 ] generic_find_num_queues called, in txq 0 rxq 0
[ 760 ] generic_netmap_dtor Restored native NA 0[ 1026 ] netmap_finalize_obj_allocator Unable to create cluster at 161078 for 'netmap_buf' allocator (this message appeared after i re installed pfsense to an old ssd zfs, before i was using an old hard disk with ufs)
from what i have read my guess is that there is a problem with the DIE WU intel nic and inline suricata
What i would like to do
I have access to a free network running BGP and the network throughput i can get from it is about 500Mbps, if i connect that network with the onboard nic Realtek will it work with suricata ?
Use suricata with my adsl about 14MbpsCan i use this system for pfsense ?
Can these messages be a security risk ?Thank you

Thank you, that was helpful!
After a research i found that netmap from FreeBSD don't work well even with supported drivers - nics that's why in inline mode many people have netmap issues.
I will change it to Legacy mode :(
Router on the stick is my setup.

This is a bit unclear to me now, since the pfSense version 2.4.x there will be now NanoBSD and 32Bit support
any more! So what kind of pfSense version you are using here in that case? -

FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-P2CPU Type Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU D525 @1.80GHz specs
4 CPUs: 1 package(s) x2 core(s) x2 hardware threadsI haven't stress it but i think for home/lab use it will be fine.
Currently using 35% memory and the cpu usage is about 9%-16% i could optimize the firewall rules.
