Hostname in "Custom" DynDNS client service type
-
Hi,
my DynDNS provider (STRATO) requires a hostname-parameter to be set in the update-request.
Since I couldn't find any field for specifying the hostname on the DynDNS-client configuration site for a custom service, I added it manually to the Update-URL.
Like that, it is possible to update the IP for my domain.
Though, pfsense does not know, which hostname is actually updated. As a consequence, the column "hostname" in the Dynamic DNS client overview site stays empty and I cannot choose "DynDNS: …" as Host Name Resolution when trying to export my OpenVPN configuration (VPN>OpenVPN>ClientExport).
In fact, I get the error "You need to specify an IP or hostname. Failed to export config files!" when clicking on any of the export-formats (e.g. android). As a temporary solution I choose "other" as the "Host Name Resolution" and wrote my domain name.
What I actually expected is, that the hostname is directly recognized/configurable by the Dynamic DNS client for a custom DynDNS service and can then be choosen easily in the Host Name Resolution field as DynDNS: <domainname>.
Is this a topic for a bug report? Or is it possible to include STRATO as a DynDNS service type in the future? Or maybe add a hostname-field for the custom service type?
Thanks in advance.</domainname>

Got the same with SPDNS hasn't change since and is still in the 2.2 RC :'(

The hostname goes in the update URL with custom entries. For strato specifically, it looks like it should be:
http://dyndns.strato.com/nic/update/?hostname=myhost.example.com
