Hey guys not trying to sound over dramatic.
I was wondering if you guys think this setup will work, I am building a gigabit router that will be connect to a cable modem, streaming media server, and couple workstation. Let me get your opinion.

Assuming that FreeBSD supports the 82546 controller (probably does),
AND the device driver can work in 32 bit mode rather than 64 bit,
AND when you plug this 64 bit PCI controller card in the 32 bit motherboard PCI slot the pins on the left out edge connector do not short against the aluminium radiator right there visible on the motherboard photo,
yes there is a chance that it will work ;D

How much of that do you already have? What CPU are you fitting?
Why not use a PCIe dual NIC instead?Steve

Dual port gigabit PCI-X card in PCI slot?
You are going to saturate the PCI bus by one port alone. -
Yep… should work fine. I've done it on smaller atom builds. But I've seem some PCI bus throughput calculations - you will not get gig throughput out of it.
