IPV6 gateway will not turn on

Running PFsense 2.1.5-RELEASE (amd64)
Following the instructions on the PFsense Doc for setting up IPv6 with HE. Create the tunnel interface and it shows as being up in the dashboard. Enabled the GIF and went to the gateway and set it to default. At this point it says I should see the gateway in the dashboard as being online. i see it in the dashboard but it is offline (100% loss) . The interface however is showing as being up.
What do I need to do to be able to turn the gateway online? i have followed the instructions as displayed and explained in the doc. I presume something has changed between the doc and the latest version of PFsense.

Found part of the problem…..
The gateway would not start because i'm using snort and it was blocking it. Permitted the tunnel in snort and the gateway came up. Still no joy since I can't seem to send or receive but I think the issue is with snort settings. Still investigating. If somebody has any ideas how to configure snort with the HE tunnel I would appreciate their input.
