      Does anyone know if this card is compatible with 2.1.x? I have not been able to find out what chipset the card is based on. Oracle documentation http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19113-01/x8quad.giga.utp/820-0115-16/820-0115-16.pdf

      I currently have an Intel Pro 1000/VT Quad but I am having a lot of problems with it. For some reason as soon as I plug a network cable in the menu options shift around and the system freezes. Using it in a Dell Optiplex 740. Just looking for a quad port gig card that actually works at this point.

        Card is not recognized by either 2.1.5 or 2.2 beta

          You may want to consider this: http://www.startech.com/Networking-IO/Adapter-Cards/4-Port-PCI-Express-Gigabit-Ethernet-NIC-Network-Adapter-Card~ST1000SPEX4#

          From personal experience I know that it works, but I wasn't very happy with cost and heat dissipation, so I eventually dropped the idea of using a quad for that particular project that I was working on. The price came down quite a bit since, I think you can get it for $175 or so nowadays. Frankly I don't like overcharged smart network cards for a laundry list long reasons… but that's me  ::)

            I think it may have been computer related. Swapped over to a OptiPlex 780 and it works fine now. Odd, because it ran in the 740 for 6 months fine.

              @sachnet

              I am new to pfsense and planning to buy the same NIC- Sun ATLS1QGE for my Optiplex 760.

              Does it still work in your Optiplex 780 fine or did it stop working like in 740?

              TX
