Hi i recently got a Cisco nexus 5020 10GB switch that i want to put into my systems for vm storage network and ive been trying to get pfsense to detect a Mellanex Connectx-2 10GB fiber card. I have looked up ways to import the driver for it but i have had no luck. My first problem was getting the driver to compile and it was giving me error like "no such dir" so i looked for a download for pre-compiled drivers and i found some here:

And i ssh into the pfsense server and placed the files into /boot/kernel and then edited the loader.conf and added the lines from the link as well and still no detection. I did true to load the driver live but it gave me a error "kldload: an error occurred while loading the module. Please check dmesg(8) for more details."

Thanks for any help you can give!

You need to compile the drivers on the equivalent FreeBSD version. So for pfSense 2.4.2-RELEASE-p1 that would be FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-p6. Often, that means that any FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE will do. When you are done compiling, you can then use the binaries on pfSense.
