      I would like to know if pfsense would run on this server without any problems with drivers and so on specs Processor - 1xIntel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5620 @ 2.40GHz RAM - 32GB DDR3

        Probably. We'd need more details to say anything further.

        It's also probably complete overkill for most setups. What are you doing with it?

          I can get the server real cheap and will be using it on a 150MB connection with about 8 pc on the network and a couple of nas servers

            That's OVERKILL… You can virtualize pfsense and still have plenty of resources for other things.

              MegaBytes(MB) or Megabits(Mb)? It's overkill bare metal for either really…. unless maybe you want a 150MB VPN...

                IBM, like HP (a.k.a. Compaq) are weird boxes. Am guessing reason why they can be cheap. Believe or not, pFsense install fine on generic PC boxes, but give them a super-duper big brand name server gear… hope ur patience and tenacious.

                Power-wise like others say, you would be running a Ferrari on a 2-lane island.
