pfsense used to show the serial number in dashboard few versions ago but in recent versions it's gone. Anyone knows why?

I think your bios is outdated there Steve_B

But yeah Serial is there for me as well.

Are you not seeing system at all strangegopher?  You can show or hide different sections in that widget.. Maybe your hiding the system section all together?

I used to see the serial number only.
For a while I used to see both serial number and device id.
Now all I see is Device id.

dmidecode doesn't seem show anything either but I wonder how it found out the bios version.

I thought serial was replaced with device id and was expecting no serial number for other users.

johnpoz:  Interesting that your SG-4860 is showing a *.17 BIOS.  Mine shows a *.12 like Steve_B's.  I went to:

              https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/sg-4860/adi-bios-flash.html

and the latest BIOS file it links to there indicates it's the *.12 BIOS.  I'm going to follow their procedure for installing the Netgate_Coreboot_Upgrade package and see what it says.

EDIT:  Netgate_Coreboot_Upgrade says *.17 is available.  Looks like I've got a BIOS update to perform.
EDIT 2:  Well, maybe I won't bother with the update.  According to Ivor in:

              https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=138611.0

the update from *.12 to *.17 consists of:  "C2000 rev C support and a USB component changed" (neither of which I use).

We do a lot of backward compatibility testing. You are likely to see all kinds of stuff on my screenshots :)

Can this be some kind of issue with my bios?
